The Lion roars again

The Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes provided Roaring Lion with his fourth Group 1 victory, beating Aidan O'Briens' I Can Fly. The flashy grey colt also gave his usual jockey Oisin Murphy his first Group 1, winning the Sandown Coral Eclipse in July (pictured) 07/07/18.
He only suffered five defeats during his career from 13 starts, the most disappointing of which was his last run at Churchill Downs in the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Classic, finishing last of 14 "Slowly into stride, soon in touch on inside, driven along over four furlongs out, weakened three furlongs out, tailed off."
Soon after that run it was announced by HH Sheikh Fahad that his three year old campaign has come to an end, retiring to Tweenhills Stud in Gloucestershire where he will stand for £40,000 per covering, along side Sussex Stakes winner Lightning Spear.
Roaring Lion was purchased from the September Keenland Yearling Sale for $160,000 by Qatar Racings' bloodstock agent David Redvers, his total racing career earnings add up to over £2,500,000.
